London Cancer Hub, London
Aviva and Socius
Scheme
Aviva Capital Partners and Socius have been selected to advance the development of the world’s leading district for cancer research and treatment at the London Cancer Hub in Sutton, London.
The scheme will comprise a one million sq ft life sciences district on a five-hectare site. It will deliver major social and economic benefits, including 13,000 highly skilled jobs in health, science, education and construction and c.£1.2bn GVA to the UK economy.
Aviva and Socius are working to set out a long-term vision and strategy for delivering social impact through the development of the scheme.
The redevelopment aims to improve the wellbeing of the local community, ensuring that the benefits of progress are felt by all.
Strategy
Meeting Place has been appointed to devise and execute the social impact and planning communications strategy for the London Cancer Hub. Meaningful engagement with the Sutton community lies at the heart of the strategy, ensuring the social impact delivered from the scheme will meet local needs and aspirations.
As part of the strategy, Meeting Place is coordinating the project team to deliver commitments in the immediate term including volunteering, charity donations and working alongside local businesses, charities, schools and colleges to influence positive change.
Our work with the design team will ensure that the community voice is heard, and that layouts and plans respond to local need. The design will maximise social impact through creating spaces that improve wellbeing, increase job access and protect and enhance nature.
Outcome
As the plans for London Cancer Hub evolve, we will be hosting workshops with the design team and local community to understand how the masterplan can address local challenges and ensure that the spaces are inclusive and equitable. As part of Meeting Place’s appointment, we will be providing pro-bono communications and PR support for local organisations.
