Hayes Gardens, Leicestershire

Santander / Blaby District Council

Scheme

Blaby District Council and Santander were working together to bring forward plans for a new development in Enderby and Narborough. The site, which consisted of vacant land within Carlton Park and Enderby Golf Course, had the potential to deliver up to 800 homes and a range of community infrastructure.

Strategy

Meeting Place’s engagement strategy focused on a multi-channel approach that sought to combine the best aspects of digital and in-person outreach.

We established a strong digital presence, anchored around a dedicated project website that included an interactive map, where local people could get involved in the consultation.
We also held a series of drop-in consultation events, with over 300 people attending. These events were held at a range of dates, times, and locations in order to widen the reach of the consultation. This included a weekend pop-up event at a local leisure centre, thereby reaching beyond the self-selecting audience. This was supplemented by a webinar for those preferred to engage online.

The consultation was publicised through a range of channels, including via traditional media and an advertising campaign on social media. This resulted in over 10,000 visits to the website, with over 600 people providing feedback via the online survey and hard-copy feedback form.

Outcome

Blaby District Council and Santander are continuing to progress with the proposals through the new Local Plan process.

We’re the Meeting Place of deep knowledge and creative thinking. And we want to hear from you.
