Bringing Sutton's debut literary festival to life

Meeting Place is supporting Aviva Capital Partners and Socius in developing the London Cancer Hub, which aims to become the world’s leading district for cancer research and treatment. While the project’s inherent social value is clear, significant social impact has already been delivered behind the scenes.
Through the Impact Fund, we’ve meaningfully engaged with Sutton’s local communities, using creative methods like co-design workshops with young students, volunteering at local gardening projects, and offering pro-bono support to Sutton-based voluntary organisations. These unique engagement approaches have created a valuable feedback loop that has informed the masterplan process.
Recently, we helped launch the Sutton Literary Festival by providing support with PR and media engagement, and also volunteering during the two-day event.
The Festival hosted a fantastic lineup of award-winning and debut authors, including Louise Minchin launching her new book Isolation Island, discussing themes of inclusivity and community.
Place at My Table, the charity behind the event, works with the local community network to provide holistic approaches to supporting and empowering BME people.
The event served as both a reflection and a powerful reminder of the values that drive our social impact efforts. It underscored the importance of uncovering unheard voices and understanding the broader community’s needs, ensuring that the new development integrates seamlessly into the local social fabric, thus delivering a lasting, meaningful impact.
