Glebe Farm, Blaby
Hallam Land

Scheme
The redevelopment of Glebe Farm aims to create a vibrant and equitable community space with homes for all and publicly accessible green spaces. To achieve this, Hallam Land will deliver up to 200 homes, including a minimum of 25% affordable housing, re-provide up to 600m² of existing retail and leisure uses, create new public open space, including two youth football pitches and children’s play areas and create new community orchards.
The redevelopment looks to address the worsening housing and cost-of- living crisis. It aims to alleviate some of the significant economic and social disparities that exist within Blaby. Through design and delivery, the development of Glebe Farm aims to create an integrated neighbourhood, distinctive place and streets for all.
Strategy
Weaving our Impact of a Home metrics into wider social impact reporting, Meeting Place has told the stories of lives changed and quantified the impact this could have. This includes £581,700 of wellbeing impact through supporting 50 families into affordable home ownership based on labour market benefits, increase in tax receipts, decrease in Universal Credit claims, savings to health services, reduced homelessness services expenditure, savings from lower crime and fewer disruptions to education. We can also estimate the delivery of £1.7m social benefits from providing 10ha of publicly accessible green space to new and existing local residents who live within 500m of the site.
Outcome
Meeting Place produced a short brochure that showcased the benefits which we will use as a tool for engagement, sharing with both local councillors and the public.
