South East Warrington Urban Extension, Cheshire

Homes England

Scheme

Meeting Place was instructed to support Homes England in bringing forward the South East Warrington Urban Extension, an allocated site which could deliver approximately 4,200 new homes alongside schools, healthcare, community facilities and other supporting infrastructure.

Strategy

We are delivering a comprehensive programme of public engagement designed to collaboratively shape a clear vision for future development in South East Warrington through the creation of a Development Framework. This has included the implementation of a communications and engagement strategy focused on inclusivity and accessibility, seeking to ensure that all demographics within the local community play a role in shaping the future of their local area.

Focussing on generating feedback from residents and stakeholders regarding their aspirations for the site and encouraging participation that will help shape the creation of a Development Framework, a wide range of innovative engagement techniques have been used in order to support Homes England’s ambitions for an inclusive engagement programme.

This multi-channel approach has included online mapping, social media, a virtual briefing and several in-person interactive events aimed at gathering as much feedback as possible. The consultation and engagement period has been praised by members of Warrington Borough Council highlighting the level of interaction and collaboration between the client and local residents.

Outcome

The urban extension is one of the most important projects in the region. We’re continuing to work closely with Homes England as they progress with the Development Framework.
