Where are women in planning policy? Safety, gender and the NPPF
In support of International Women’s Day, this webinar brings together a panel of experts to examine the Government’s proposed changes to the National Planning Policy Framework and the striking absence of any reference to women, girls, gendered safety or violence against women and girls (VAWG).
This omission sits uneasily alongside the Government’s own VAWG Strategy, which calls for women’s safety to be embedded into the design and planning of public spaces. Our panel will explore why this disconnect matters, the real-world implications for the built environment, and what meaningful, gender-responsive planning policy should look like.
