Senior Developer

Our company:

Meeting Place is an integrated communications agency that specialises in the built environment. We deliver planning communications and public relations campaigns to create positive change from new developments.

Meeting Place exists to ensure the built environment is used as a catalyst for positive change.

Everything we do is underpinned with a commitment to three core values:

  • Insight – We add value with our insights, they’re born from our expertise and empathy.
  • Inclusivity – We go out of our way to ensure everyone’s voice is heard.
  • Courage – We’re brave enough to move forward using both our head and our heart.

The role:

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Developer to help bring us closer to becoming the integrated built environment communications and social impact consultancy of choice.

There’s consensus that our country needs more homes, new space for businesses and better infrastructure so that means growth for us. The Senior Developer will become an integral member of our Design & Digital team, specially primed to support the digital ambitions of our growing client base. You will spend your time building websites, landing pages, producing digital assets for new workstreams, developing our digital offer, and working closely with the regional teams.

Who we’re looking for:

As a Senior Developer at Meeting Place, we’re looking for somebody who is first and foremost an experienced senior WordPress developer to create websites, landing pages, and use their excellent project management skills to drive progress and deliver against milestones. You must have the willingness to produce quality output at short notice by drawing upon your own competencies, other team members’ expertise, and any other resources around you.

Most of what we do is now in WordPress, so we’re looking for a fullstack PHP/WordPress developer with plenty of experience, a great eye for detail, and excellent communication and project management skills.

  • 5+ years minimum commercial experience with WordPress
  • Excellent organisation and time management skills
  • High attention to detail
  • Great communicator
  • Enthusiastic and active in learning and developing your own skills
  • Able to work from our Bristol office a minimum of 2 days per week

We could write a long list of platforms and frameworks which you must/should/could have experience of, but we won’t. We’re essentially looking for a modern, progressive and enthusiastic developer with the right amount of WordPress, JavaScript and project management experience under their belt who will be a good fit with us.

Git and Kinsta experience are beneficial but not essential.

Our benefits:

Working with us means you’ll be able to take advantage of these benefits:

  • Flexible working and hybrid working arrangements
  • 28 days annual leave plus bank holidays. Additional days for your birthday and length of service, subject to conditions
  • Royal London pension scheme – 4% employer contribution
  • Monthly expenses allowance for travel and subsistence
  • Contribution to your home working set up
  • Access to the company’s Employee Assistance Programme (EAP)
  • Cycle to work scheme
  • Life Assurance (Death in Service) benefit
  • Volunteering scheme
  • Internal Mentoring scheme
  • A commitment to your learning, development, and training needs

We respect our employees and understand that the way to get the very best from you is to provide a welcoming, relaxed, and friendly company culture. Employee wellbeing is at the heart of this.

Diversity, Equity & Inclusion:

Our mission is to create a culture where people are valued, treated fairly, can be their authentic self, and our team feel like they belong at Meeting Place. If you value diversity and this statement resonates with your thinking, we are particularly interested in you and encourage you to apply.
